I would say that the number one question I get from people in the clan is "What should i upgrade next?". I have read up on this topic a bit and this list is a combination of what I have read and my experience. I believe that this topic is pretty universal no matter what level you are at. This would be from immediately after you upgrade your th.
1) Lab - This is the life blood of your ability to increase your attacking power and raiding ability. You need to do this first no matter what your level is.
2) Army Camps (if applicable) - And this you need to max out asap if you get a new base like at th 7. Build it and keep upgrading it till you get to the max you can get. The more troops you have will improve your raiding and war ability.
3) Walls - Work on these as you have the gold. I believe you need to place all of your new walls and then work on upgrading them to at least pink crystal before putting them into use. Below that, they are not work trusting your base too. When you get your walls to pink crystal, then redesign your base to the new layout you want.
4)Dark Elixir drills and storages - Build your de storage first at th 7. This is another one of the build and upgrade till maxed for your level. DE is by far the hardest to find resource and you will need it for heros and dark troop upgrades.
5) Spell factory - This is especially important at th 7 and 8 to get heal and rage. Other spells help but those two will be the back bone of your spells even at th 10.
6) Place your new defenses - I would not integrate these into your new defense until they are at least level 5 or so. Bases should be designed to integrate all of your defenses and rely on their ability to protect the rest of the base. If they are too weak, you won't be able to rely on it. At this point focus on getting these new defenses up to the level of your other defenses focusing on them in this order:
a)Air Defense
b)Wizard Tower
c)teslas
d)mortars
e)archer towers
f)cannons
7)Upgrade a barracks and dark barracks to your max in order to get more powerful troops. This will be important for your lab upgrdes.
8)Place or upgrade your storages - place them and max them. You will need them as you will now likely be able to raid way more effectively.
9)Upgrade your defenses in the same order as above.
10)Traps - Following order:
a)Big Bombs
b)seeking mine
c)air bombs
d)bombs
11)Town Hall - When done with all this and you are most of the way done with your walls, start thinking about your th upgrade. Don't max your walls or you will have nothing to dump gold into while your th upgrades and you will be bored.
12) mines and collectors - while the th is upgrading, work on you mines and collectors. When you gett effective at raiding, these are not that important.
Lab upgrades:
This is more subjective and really comes down to how you raid and what type of war attacks you want to do. I personally think that doing archers first is most logical. From there it really comes down to your preference. If you want to get your war troops next, that makes sense. If you want to work on your barbarians or giants for raiding that makes sense. But, I think that the lab is the key to when you are ready to upgrade. If your troops are maxed, you are ready to go.
